Air Superiority Target (AST)

Abstract

The AST is being developed as the follow-on to the current Full Scale Aerial Target (FSAT) and is an Air Force-managed program. The AST is a converted F-16 aircraft and provides a supersonic, high altitude, remote-controlled aerial target. This target will have full command and control capability through normal flight maneuvers. The AST target presentations support aircraft and weapons systems testing and development, including that of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), AIM-9X Sidewinder missile, Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM), and Standard Missile 6.
