FIREPOWER

Abstract

This activity develops technology for application on current and future expeditionary weapons and elements of the kill chain. It includes, but is not limited to, the following technologies: Fuze, fire control, launch/propulsion, lethality, and accuracy. The FY 2009 to FY 2010 decrease in funding results from delays due to obtaining programmatic milestone approvals in the Targeting and Engagement and Precision Target Location efforts. The FY 2010 to FY 2011 increase in funding is due to enhanced E&D efforts for precision urban attack. The efforts address technologies needed to acquire, track, and designate Forward Observer (FO) identified targets, from an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) using micro pulse laser designator (MPLD) energy, for urban (and other) terrain attack by mortar rounds with advanced trajectory shaping capabilities.
