Cyber Security Research

Abstract

This is a new start program. The urgency and criticality of improving Cyber Security for the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Communities (IC) is highlighted by the release of the President’s Cyberspace Policy Review. Our cyber defenses must provide mission assurance during cyber attacks on our operations throughout the world. Adversaries are increasingly sophisticated and growing in number, and the DoD and IC need more options to operate and fight in cyberspace. This PE will conduct research and explore new and novel game-changing ideas over the full spectrum of computer network operations. Research will lead to a better understanding of the cyber threat and the mitigation of the threat; explore and exploit new concepts and ideas in cyber warfare; establish new analytical methodologies, develop models and experimental data for improving cyber security metrics; and develop technology options for improved operations in cyber space. The Cyber Security Advanced Technology Development PE will transition results of this research into demonstrations of improved capabilities to conduct full spectrum cyber operations.
