(U)Offensive Anti-Surface Warfare Weapon Dev

Abstract

OASuW will be an offensive weapon system or systems solution that can be air and/or surface launched in the maritime battle space environment. OASuW will be a vital component of the Joint Force Anti-Surface Warfare capability and incorporate new or emergent technologies to support an increased offensive strike capability. The Analysis of Alternatives has provided recommendations for multiple preferred system concepts and the material solution analysis will continue in FY13 to develop preferred material approaches and acquisition strategies. This program is funded under Advanced Component Development and Prototypes because it includes all efforts necessary to evaluate integrated technologies, representative models or prototype systems in a high fidelity and realistic operating environment.

Change Summary Explanation
Technical: Funding was originally provided for an Offensive Anti-Surface Warfare(OASuW)Weapon system or systems solution that can be air and/or surface launched in the maritime battle space environment, as well as, an interim solution based on the Tomahawk Weapons System to be developed to support accelerated deployment of the Offensive Anti-Surface Warfare Capability. Due to changing priorities within the Department requirements have been redefined for the OASuW program across the Future Year Defense Plan (FYDP). Schedule: Changes are due to changing priorities within the Department which have redefined the OASuW requirement across the FYDP. It is deemed a manageable risk to not pursue the OASuW interim solution program through the FYDP.
