Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle Program (SPACE) - EMD

Abstract

Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) is a Major Defense Acquisition Program (MDAP) Acquisition Category (ACAT) 1D program that procures launch services to deliver National Security Space (NSS) space vehicles (SVs) on orbit. The program is completing research and developmental items including new entrant certification and studies, current RL10 and common upper stage development and integration; secondary payload adaptor standard service, and special studies (to include but not limited to upper stage manufacturability, alternative manufacturing process, and affordable upper stage engine studies, and other related support activities). This program is in Budget Activity 5, System Development and Demonstration (SDD) because it has passed Milestone B approval and is conducting engineering and manufacturing development tasks aimed at meeting validated requirements prior to full-rate production.
