Next Generation Interceptor Development (NGI)

Abstract

The Improved Homeland Defense Interceptor Program Element will deliver an NGI for Homeland Defense. The NGI has improved survivability against natural and hostile environments and increases performance capability against 2030 threats compared to the currently fielded GBIs. Recurring efforts include: -Continue the design, development, and parts testing of the NGI payload and boost vehicle utilizing two prime contractors -Continue activities to support achieving Knowledge Point #1 exit criteria, successful completion of the Preliminary Design Review. These activities include: -Continue purchase and initiate testing of NGI parts and initiate testing to gain early confidence in NGI design -Continue Parts, Materials, and Processes Board Requirements (PMPCB) approval for all parts -Continue to initiate efforts to improve battlespace and threat containment requirement analysis
