Integrated Crisis Early Warning System (ICEWS)

Abstract

The Integrated Crisis Early Warning System (ICEWS) program developed and integrated a set of data analysis tools into a unified information system to support Theater Security Cooperation. The ICEWS system monitors, assesses, and forecasts leading indicators of events that make countries vulnerable to crises. ICEWS technologies include quantitative and computational social science modeling and simulation, scenario generation, ontological modeling of security problems, advanced interactive visualization techniques, and agent-based programming. ICEWS technologies were successfully transitioned to operations at several commands.
