51‐3: High‐birefringence Liquid Crystal for Phase‐only Spatial Light Modulators

Abstract

We report a high birefringence and high resistivity LC mixture for augmented reality and virtual reality displays. When employed in a phase‐only Liquid‐Crystal‐on‐Silicon, the measured average phase‐to‐phase response time is 2.87 ms, while keeping a 2π phase change and 5V operation voltage, which enables 240 Hz operation without using complicated overdrive and undershoot circuitries.
