Hypergolic fuels based on water-stable borohydride cluster anions with ultralow ignition delay times

Abstract

A series of [B12H12]2−, [B10H10]2− and [B6H7]− salts were prepared with excellent hydrolytic and thermal stabilities (Td > 200 °C), especially ultra-fast ignition delay times (as low as 1 ms) upon contact with white fuming nitric acid or N2O4, which is a superior ignition performance.
