Continuous‐flow Centrifugation Washing of Red Blood Cells

Abstract

Nonfrozen and previously frozen red blood cells were washed by continuous‐flow centrifugation in reusable, stainless steel bowls. Satisfactory washout of extracellular Evans blue dye and intracellular glycerol from the red blood cell suspension was achieved, but complete mixing in the washing bowl was not accomplished.
