Mine Warfare Planning and Analysis

Abstract

Mine Warfare (MIW) and Environmental Decision Aids Library (MEDAL) is a software intensive software acquisition program and is U.S. Navy's single Mine Warfare tactical decision support system for integrated mission planning, evaluation, and situational awareness. MEDAL provides mine and mine warfare planning and evaluation tools and databases to the MCM Commanders and is employed at the MCM unit level to perform MCM sortie planning and evaluation. The most recent MEDAL increment, known as MEDAL Enterprise Architecture (EA) and is no longer dependent on Global Command and Control System - Maritime (GCCS-M) for fielding this capability to MIW fleet users. MINEnet Tactical is the MCM operational component of MEDAL EA. It has been developed to be fielded to standard Navy networks, Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES), Integrated Shipboard Network System (ISNS), and Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) servers and uses common web browser to support the user interface to all user client components. Completion of initial MINEnet Tactical fielding will allow MEDAL Build 11 to be retired.
