Radio Frequency (RF) Systems and Technologies
Abstract
This project area focuses on research, development, and evaluation of innovative Radio Frequency (RF) technologies and system concepts for radar, signals intelligence, electronic warfare, and communications. Emerging national security challenges include a rapidly expanding threat spectrum, the increasing need to integrate sensors on platforms with severely constrained payloads, military operations in strong clutter and interference environments, detection and long duration tracking of difficult targets, and robustness against sophisticated electronic countermeasures. To address these new mission requirements, future RF systems will need to operate with increased bandwidth, higher dynamic range, higher-frequency bands, and lower size, weight and power (SWAP).
