Aircrew Flight Equipment (AFE)

Abstract

This project is a small-dollar, generic effort that evaluates the feasibility of using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and non-developmental item technologies for life support equipment capabilities that may/may not require robust Engineering and Manufacturing Development. The current effort under the AFE project is a COTS Low Profile Parachute (LPP), which aims to replace antiquated Vietnam-era flight equipment to meet Air Force Special Operation Command requirements. The AFE project may include tasks associated with equipment engineering, modification, integration, testing, and procurement of test articles for certification.
