Rapid Planning (RP)
Abstract
(U) The Rapid Planning (RP) effort will develop rapid planning and replanning tools based on a mathematical foundation. The program will develop tools and techniques for rapid generation and adaptation of robust plans in the presence of uncertainty, imprecision, incomplete, and contradictory data and assumptions. RP will also provide a capability for monitoring plans, providing continuous replanning capability, and plain text explanations for recommended plans. RP will invest in mathematical methods to improve optimization including new branch and bound, mixed integer programming, and sub-modularity methods; techniques for accelerated simulation where accuracy can be traded for speed; design of experiments through manifold learning and identification techniques that build upon previous DARPA programs; and develop a process that is aware of interdependencies in plans and aids planners in resolving these interdependencies.
