Bioinspired Robotics and Mechanics*

Abstract

*Formerly BioRobotics and BioMechanics. The Bioinspired Robotics and Mechanics thrust explored approaches to capture biological systems' ability to move and sense, and emulate them in man-made robotic or sensor systems. The effort included providing robotics with the mobility required to provide support to soldiers in all terrains, including climbing, through a significantly improved scientific framework for understanding robot mobility and manipulation in natural environments and demonstration of proof of concept technologies. The framework includes better design tools, fabrication methods, and control algorithms.
