Vaccines for Prevention of Malaria

Abstract

This effort conducts studies to investigate new candidate vaccines for preventing malaria and selects the best candidate(s) for continued refinement. A highly effective vaccine would reduce or eliminate the use of anti-malarial drugs and would minimize the progression and impact of drug resistance to current/future drugs. In FY17 this research area and the Drugs to Prevent/Treat Parasitic Diseases research area are merged into one task area titled Parasitic Diseases – Drugs and Vaccines.
