SSC Construction

Abstract

This project funds the Ship to Shore Connector (SSC) construction phase which includes the construction of the test and training craft, and includes Detail Design, procurement of one Full Motion Trainer, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), Program support, and Outfitting and Post Delivery. The SSC program provides the surface assualt portion of the Joint Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare tactical solution set requirement to project, sustain, retrograde and re-employ joint combat power from the sea and Sea Base, independent of tides, water depth, underwater obstacles or beach gradient. The lead craft will be maintained as a test platform throughout its life cycle to allow analysis and test of fixes to problems as they arise during fleet introduction of SSC. The SSC program provides the functional replacement for the LCAC Class of ships, which begin reaching extended service life in 2014.
