Disparate Data Fusion, Analysis, and Applications for Networked Systems Focus Area

Abstract

Disparate Data Fusion, Analysis, and Applications for Networked Systems prototypes validate new approaches to managing and capitalizing on the increase of data volume, variety, variability, and velocity from our networked communications and sensors. Growth in social media, big data analytics, and large dynamic sensor networks requires new tools for aggregation, processing, exploitation, and dissemination. Projects include the development of capabilities, software, and tools to fuse, analyze, and infer information from a wide variety of structured or unstructured datasets from a broad spectrum of sources. Where possible these projects will exploit advanced machine learning systems and commercial technologies to provide solutions to emerging challenges in tracking targets, big data analytics, and extracting indications and warnings. Technologies developed within this focus area will reduce cost and analyst requirements to provide meaningful intelligence in support of areas such as counter-missile/counter-weapons of mass destruction, gray-zone near-peer competition, human terrain mapping applications, and operations in denied areas.
