AN/SPN-35 Blk II Upgrade
Abstract
This program provides for the development, upgrade, redesign, integration, and testing of the AN/SPN-35C Block II upgrade required to extend the service life and ensure Fleet availability of the system until 2040. AN/SPN-35C is the Precision Approach Radar aboard LHA/LHD class ships and provides Mode III aircraft recovery capability, ensuring the safe approach and landing of all LH-class embarked aircraft during adverse weather & night conditions. The AN/SPN-35C Block II upgrade provides engineering efforts to develop an Active Electronically Steered Array (AESA) to replace the existing receiver-transmitter, pedestal, and antenna group, and to incorporate digital stabilization.
