Family of Internally Transportable Vehicles (FITV)

Abstract

The Family of Internally Transportable Vehicles (FITV) are light weight and internally transportable in the V-22, CH-53D & CH53E tilt and rotary wing aircraft consisting of the Utility Task Vehicle (UTV)and the future Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicle (ULTV). The FITV provide deployed Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) and Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) (MEU (SOC)) with vehicles that are internally transportable in selected rotary and fixed wing aircraft. The FITV are expeditionary vehicles supporting over-the-horizon amphibious operations, irregular warfare and enhanced company operations. It is fielded to Infantry and Reconnaissance units. Speed, maneuverability, and the use of cover and concealment are the crew's primary means of survival. Efforts have begun to replace the current Family of Internally Transportable Vehicles. This initiative is called the Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicle (ULTV), which will replace the current Utility Task Vehicles (UTV). The ULTV will be a government-off-the shelf (GOTS) or Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS)or modified-off-the-shelf (MOTS) solution that will fulfill the FITV mission of an internally transportable vehicle noted above and is planned to have logistics, communications, and weapons mounted variants. The FY19 to FY20 increase of $1.935M is due to vehicle testing on performance and durability along with operational assessments.
