Rapid Prototyping for Systems and Applications of Interconnected Sensors and Command Networks Focus Area

Abstract

Intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) sensor networks are critical for providing asymmetric compensation against larger, near-peer adversaries. Advances in distributed, interconnected sensors with fully networked command, control, and communications provide opportunities for new solutions to anti-access/area denial and persistent surveillance challenges. Efforts in this focus area will increase the speed of innovation and technology adoption for dynamic, inhomogeneous, fully networked sensors and develop new tools to more effectively analyze or visualize ISR data. Projects include improved sensor hardware; new capabilities enabled by networking sensor systems; sensor network protection and assured communications; validation of low-cost, robust persistent surveillance capabilities; and, establishment of more effective processing, exploitation, and dissemination capabilities. Rapid Reaction Fund (RRF) sponsored prototypes will facilitate integration of advanced ISR and communication capabilities into new and existing systems. These prototypes will help increase the effectiveness of ISR architectures and reduce the human analyst requirement to produce actionable intelligence.
