Platform Electrification and Mobility Research

Abstract

This effort develops technologies required to electrify both manned and unmanned Next Generation Combat Vehicle platforms. The effort develops a modular and scalable electrification architecture. The effort develops technologies to increase electric power such as a high voltage/temperature generator, high power/ temperature power electronics, electric drive motors, and energy storage. Electrification of these platforms will enable advanced lethality and protection systems, reduced battlefield fuel consumption, and provide new capabilities such as burst acceleration, extended silent mobility and silent watch.
