High Reliability Fuzing

Abstract

Develop high reliability fuzing architectures, fuzing components, and Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) reduction features. These technologies will enable the next generation of cluster munitions to achieve the required greater than 99 percent reliability goal. Evolving DoD emphasis on increased weapon system reliability is driving the need to consider new and novel approaches for achieving increased fuze reliability while maintaining or enhancing fuze design safety. DoD policy, higher weapon reliability expectations and harsher weapon system operational requirements are dictating the need for higher fuze reliability than available using current technologies.
