Vibration Management Enhancement Program

Abstract

The Vibration Management Enhancement Program (VMEP) will monitor the health and state of an Abrams AGT1500 engine as part of the TIGER (Total InteGrated Engine Revitalization) program. The commercial off-the-shelf VMEP system will be adapted to the AGT1500 engine parameters and the VMEP system will be tested and demonstrated on an Abrams tank. The system will ultimately provide diagnostic information to the maintainers and maintenance managers in the operating units. The intent of the system is to keep vibrations at their lowest possible level, provide health status of drive train components, extending or eliminating time between overhaul (TBO), eliminating scheduled inspections, consequently reducing Operations and Sustainment costs.
