Event-Based Sensing for Space & Directed Energy Applications (Air Force)

Abstract

This project comparatively tests neuromorphic imaging technology and algorithms. This technology enhances daytime ground-based space situational awareness and directed energy test and evaluation. This project enhances DoD capabilities in the Directed Energy and Space focus areas. If successful, this project will transition to the Space and Missile Command’s Ground Based Space Situational Awareness Program Office for follow-on demonstration and fielding. Test articles received and initial testing completed in FY 2019. Calibration testing was completed in 1Q FY 2020. Telescope integration completed in 2Q FY 2020. This project has been delayed since 3Q FY 2020 due a lack of facility access caused by COVID-19 restrictions. Object tracking tests will occur in 1Q FY 2021. Event sensing tests will occur in 3Q FY 2021. A final close out report and transition decision will occur in 4Q FY 2021 with FY 2020 funds.
