Failsafe and Risk Reduction
Abstract
Congressional tasking under FY 2022 National Defense Authorization Act section 1644 directed, that for all “covered nuclear systems” of the United States: (1) Nuclear weapon systems, (2) the Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications System, and (3) the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment system that a study was needed to a) conduct an independent review of the safety, security, and reliability of covered nuclear systems, and b) ensure the review is conducted in a manner similar to the (1991-92) review conducted by the Federal Advisory Committee on Nuclear Failsafe and Risk Reduction.
