Bacterial Threats

Abstract

This effort conducts studies to develop antibacterial countermeasures, including vaccine candidates, to prevent diarrhea (a common disease in deployed troops caused by E. coli, Campylobacter and Shigella), meningitis (a threat to trainee and deployed troops and military families), wound infection, and scrub typhus (a debilitating mite-borne disease that is developing resistance to currently available antibiotics).
