Improving Iris Recognition Matching of Off-Angle and Dilated Non-Ideal Data

Abstract

Accurately capturing iris biometric data at other than direct facial angles is a challenge. This project researched an approach to improve performance in segmenting and matching iris data captured at angles greater than 20 degrees off-angle. As part of this effort, the investigator delivered image processing and pattern recognition algorithms to improve the performance of iris recognition in the presence of refractive distortion and/or dilation.
