Terrain Analysis for Signal and Sensor Phenomenology

Abstract

This effort develops means to create, structure, and represent detailed data, information and effects of the physical and human terrain on military ground operations. The research focuses on tactical, rather than national or commercial, remote sensing of physical terrain data to achieve the fidelity required for current and future operations. Research includes methods for radical, effective active remote sensing to 'tag' features, items and people of interest; these capabilities are based upon full waveform light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensor systems and an array of other sensor phenomenology for optimal data detection, identification and classification.
