Project VANGUARD 2.0
Abstract
VANGUARD developed a virtual reality environment for enhanced operational collaboration for disparate, geographically separated organizations and personnel. The environment was developed as an unclassified demonstration to enable rapid development and integration of commercially based visual mapping and analytical tools. Project VANGUARD 2.0 efforts focused on extending this tool to a classified environment with the ability to ensure connectivity across disparate databases with differing security. The end result provides direct support of targeting analysts and decision makers during the targeting process, and brings together U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force objectives in a joint initiative. In 2019, the system was deployed across 363 Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Wing subordinate units and assets.
