Abstract
Prior to the initiation of this project, no missile warning system existed that could detect the launch of a shoulder launched missile with high probability of detection and low false alarm rate at an affordable cost. This project completed the development of COTS VIS/NIR electro-optical based system operating in real-time on a Field Programmable Gate Array Processor to detect the launch of a shoulder-launched, Man Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS) with high probability of detection and low false alarm rate.
