Abstract

BLOCK 8.1 Adds Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Mode 5, Civil Data Link, Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B), Air Traffic Services (ATS)/Airline Operational Control(AOC) Data Link for Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) communication, enhanced covert lighting, improved Public Address(PA) System, and Approach Procedure with Vertical guidance (APV)/ Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance(LPV) approach capability. Several avionics platforms are impacted that include Flight Management System Software, Mission Computer Software, Bus Interface Unit software, and Maintenance Management System.
