Advanced Running Gear:

Abstract

This effort matures and demonstrates running gear components and advanced suspension technologies to increase vehicle mobility and durability in response to increased ground vehicle platform weights. Components and subsystems include new elastomer compounds, lightweight, survivable track systems and road wheels, advanced compensating track tensioners, advanced damping suspension technologies, energy regenerative suspension systems, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) systems, and preview sensing technologies linked to advanced suspension designs. Coordinated work is also being conducted under Program Elements (PE) 0602601A, project H91 and PE 0603005A, projects 221 and 497. In FY13 and FY14, this effort supports Technology Enabled Capability Demonstration 1c: Force Protection - Occupant Centric Platform.
