AMMUNITION LOGISTICS
Abstract
This project matures and demonstrates technologies for rapidly deploying and resupplying munitions and improving the return of unused ammunition from deployment. This effort contributes to force readiness and reduction in the logistics footprint through improvements in Materials Handling Equipment (MHE), ammunition and missile packaging/palletization, explosives safety, weapons re-arm, and asset throughput/management. Efforts in this program element support the Army science and technology Soldier portfolio. The cited work is consistent with the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Research and Engineering Science and Technology focus areas and the Army Modernization Strategy. Work in this project is performed and managed by the US Army Armament Research, Development, and Engineering Center (ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ.
