Abstract
Efforts include: littoral geosciences and optics; marine mammals and biology; physical oceanography and prediction; and ocean acoustics. Accomplishments and plans described below are examples for each effort category. Accomplishments and plans described below are examples for each effort category. Increase in 2016 is the result of initiation of several Department Research Initiatives in several mission impacting oceanographic processes. Decrease in 2017 is reflected by the decrease in investment in core Physical Oceanography. Decrease in 2017 is reflected by the decrease in investment in core Physical Oceanography.
