Environmentally Benign Colored Smoke Formulations - M18 Red/Violet Smoke Grenades (G950/G955)
Abstract
The project addresses Army Environmental Requirements and Technology Assessments requirement (AERTA) PP-3-02-4 and Environmentally Sustainable Energetics Workshop List of Concerns PGP-09-02 for the removal of sulfur and hazardous dyes from current formulations. New formulations will replace the sulfur based red and violet M18 formulations for all future production. Justification: AERTA requirement Impact: Without change to the formulation, User will continue to be exposed to potention inhalation hazard.
