Photonic Materials and Device Research

Abstract

Conduct research into novel material and device structures operable throughout the electromagnetic spectrum from long wave infrared (LWIR) to ultraviolet (UV) including sources, detectors, and integrated photonic devices to increase situational awareness in open and complex terrains; allow assured communication, improved target detection, identification, and discrimination; and create new device functionalities while reducing size, weight, and power requirements.
