Lightweight, Reliable, Increased Capacity Magazine for Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle (SCAR) ((United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM))

Abstract

Test a more reliable, lightweight polymer or heat treated hard anodized magazine for the SCAR MK17 (heavy). Once inserted in the weapon, it will prevent outside contaminants, such as sand, from entering the magazine or magazine well. The primary outputs and efficiencies to be demonstrated in the project are a more reliable Mark-17 (MK17) magazine with increased ammunition capacity and to avoid Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) operations and support costs worth approximately $1.700 million.
