ADVANCED NAVAL MATERIALS
Abstract
Advanced Naval Materials efforts support several S&T Focus Areas, in particular Platform Design & Survivability and Power & Energy, and perform research across a broad spectrum of technical areas including: structural materials to increase platform performance and survivability at reduced weight and cost; advanced, high-performance materials for energy systems; corrosion mitigation strategies; high-temperature energy systems; enhanced sonar transducers; and environmental quality technologies. The funding increase from FY 2017 to FY 2018 is due to increased emphasis and investment in structural materials applied research.
