Global ASNT Inc 2

Abstract

Global ASNT Increment 2 (Inc 2) replaces aging legacy strategic communications equipment at bomber, tanker and reconnaissance Wing Command Posts (WCPs), Nuclear Task Forces, Munitions Support Squadrons (MUNSS), and Mobile Support Teams (MSTs). Global ASNT Inc 2 is a ground-based system that will provide survivable, secure communication paths to disseminate Emergency Action Messages (EAMs) to bomber, tanker, and reconnaissance aircrews. Global ASNT Inc 2 is being fielded in 3 separate capability incremental blocks; all 3 blocks are High-Altitude Electro-Magnetic Pulse (HEMP) and Radiation Hazard (RADHAZ) protected. Global ASNT Inc 2 Block 1 delivers a replacement Aircrew Alerting System (AAS) consisting of Ultra High Frequency (UHF) personal and general alerting equipment replacing EHDC and AACE systems. Global ASNT Inc 2 Blocks 2 and 3 provide High Frequency (HF) capabilities and other enhancements, Block 2 and 3 requirements are currently deferred to focus on the highest priority needs. The total cost of the Global ASNT Inc 2 Middle Tier of Acquisition effort is 120.3 million, including RDT&E and procurement of prototype units. Global ASNT Inc 2 is not fully funded across the Future Years Defense Program. The Department of the Air Force is assessing all options to address the funding shortfalls for MTA programs including additional funding in a future budget request, performance trades based on technical maturity, or transition to alternative pathways. This project may include necessary civilian pay expenses required to manage, execute, and deliver weapon system capability. The use of such program funds would be in addition to the civilian pay expenses budgeted in program elements 0605827F, 0605828F, 0605829F, 0605831F, 0605832F, 0605833F, 0605898F, 0606398F. In FY22 0.000M was expended for civilian pay expenses in this project, and in FY23 1.263M is forecasted for civilian pay expenses in this project. This program element may include necessary revised Security Classification Guide (SCG) implementation activities.
