Biometric Scientific Research Assessment

Abstract

This is a two-phase project to improve the underlying confidence in biometrics. Phase I identified and assessed biometric related academic research as it pertains to the National Academies of Science report on “Biometric Recognition: Challenges and Opportunities” and DOD. The purpose of this assessment is to identify those biometric disciplines that are critical to the national security mission but have not received significant research in the academic community. This effort provided a catalog of existing research and a final report that identified opportunities for investment in future research.
