Expeditionary Waste to Energy System

Abstract

The Expeditionary Waste to Energy System reduces the operational energy and logistics footprint of the expeditionary base camp system, with the goal of providing an integrated waste management and disposal process add-on capability that can safely process up to two tons of mixed solid organic waste in a single day on site with the energy associated with the management process being converted to usable energy in the form of fuel, heat and/or electric power. This capability will provide a safe and suitable means to dispose of waste in remote expeditionary base camps while reducing the fuel and power requirements to sustain operations in the field. This capability provides a substantial improvement over the current practice of burn pits and backhaul with associated vulnerabilities.
