Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Nets

Abstract

(U) The goal of the Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Nets program is to develop a near-term counter RPG net system that has performance at least equivalent to bar or slat armor but that is lighter and easier to deploy; and a mid-term net-based system with active elements that has greatly improved performance. Development of these systems will be supported by modeling to enhance understanding of the net interactions and with extensive live fire testing against RPGs. Successful candidates will be installed on vehicles for evaluation in an operational context. DARPA is working with the USMC Program Manager for Motor Transport (PMMT) to develop, test and transition this capability to combat forces.
