Drugs to Prevent/Treat Parasitic Diseases

Abstract

This effort selects promising malaria and leishmaniasis (a disease transmitted by sand flies) drug candidates for testing in human subjects, and prepares data packages required for FDA approval of testing in humans and conduct testing. Studies have shown that the malaria parasite can become resistant to existing drugs, which makes it necessary to continually research new and more effective treatments.
