Current Force Common Active Protection System Radar

Abstract

Radar Active Protection System is the conceptual approach to apply the Flashpoint Short-Range (SR) APS to the Abrams M1A2 SEP(v2) and the Abrams M1A1 SA as a means to address the Abrams Tank mid-range survivability needs. The intent would be to examine the potential for replacing the ARAT/ARAT 2 reactive tiles with an active protection system thus giving 360 degree protection, reducing the potential for fratricide, and reducing the overall vehicle weight.
