Aircrew Biodynamics and Protection

Abstract

Conduct research to predict physiological impacts of extreme, dynamic aerospace environments (e.g., aircrew ejection, high altitude, high-G flight) on aircrew safety and performance. Research and develop novel innovative protective and safety devices related to aircraft ejection systems and flight safety equipment. Assess existing Air Force and Department of Defense safety standards and criteria for neck/spinal injury. Research performance of on-board oxygen generation systems (OBOGS) and implications on human physiology for current and next-generation aircraft.
