Multipath Exploitation Radar (MER)

Abstract

The Multipath Exploitation Radar (MER) program addressed radar deficiencies in urban operations: limited line of sight due to urban structures and excessive "confusers" due to multipath reflections. This program exploited multipath bounces to detect and track moving targets beyond non-line-of-sight (NLOS) and extended the area coverage rate of airborne sensors by a factor of six or more over physical line-of-sight limits. This capability has been transitioned to the Air Force and Army.
