System-Level Verification and Assessment
Abstract
This activity funds Missile Defense System Assessment and Verification, Validation, and Accreditation (VV&A) activities to support Operational Capability Baseline delivery decisions, and anchor System modeling and simulation. - Develop and manage assessment plans and requirements for Missile Defense System capability increments: -- Map assessment requirements to data collection venues (i.e., ground tests, flight tests, and exercises) -- Evaluate current Modeling & Simulation (M&S) capability to address assessment requirements, and provide recommendations for new or improved M&S - Maintain assessment documentation per the R-4 summary - Conduct extensive analysis of data collected in Missile Defense System ground and flight test events to characterize System interoperability and performance, and anchor models and simulations - Identify mitigation approaches for system performance issues uncovered during the course of analysis and assessment - Monitor development and recommend improvements to the simulation enterprise based on an evaluation of the validity of Component, Element and System-level models (and frameworks) and participation in assessment activities and M&S events - Continue VV&A activities to meet and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) model accreditation in accordance with the HWIL Accreditation plan - Conduct assessments of Missile Defense Systems capabilities and limitations prior to capability delivery decisions - Produce independent assessments of each incremental Missile Defense System Capability Delivery to support fielding readiness determinations - Verify Missile Defense System performance against specified requirements, and produce System verification reports - Maintain M&S VV&A database and toolkit - Maintain verification data for System Specification Change Notices - Recommend solutions to improve assessment confidence, including M&S and testing issue resolutions Specific and/or unique accomplishments to each FY are as follows:
