Long-Range Tactical Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Targeting, and Strike System (Navy/USMC)

Abstract

This project evaluates the capabilities of a fully autonomous, recoverable, remotely operated, electro-optical, precision-guided loitering munition, which can conduct ISR as well as locate and engage enemy targets. This provides Marine Corps commanders with a responsive strike capability to increase operational flexibility and shorten engagement timelines. This project enhances DoD capabilities in the Autonomous Systems focus area. If successful, initial transition would consist of a limited procurement with user evaluation by operational units prior to fielding with Ground Combat Elements. Test planning and test article contract award occurred in FY 2019. Flight testing previously scheduled for 3Q FY 2020 was delayed to 3Q FY 2021 due to COVID-19. Upon completion of flight testing, a close out report will be completed and a procurement decision will occur in 4Q FY 2021 with FY 2020 funds.
