LOGISTICS

Abstract

This activity supports Marine Corps Expeditionary Logistics which is the practical discipline and real world application of the deployment, sustainment, reconstitution, and re-deployment of forces engaged in expeditionary operations. Expeditionary Logistics replaces mass with assured knowledge and speed, is equally capable ashore or afloat in austere environments, and is fully scalable to meet uncertain requirements. Expeditionary Logistics logically divides into five pillars: deployment support, force closure, sustainment, reconstitution/redeployment, and command and control. These pillars are thoroughly integrated and perpetually related in execution. FY 2010 to FY 2011 funding increase is due to the acceleration and completion of applied research in novel electrochemical capacitors for meeting the peak power requirements of USMC squad level equipment and USMC Distributed Operations.
